Go figure...me in an honor society?

So how does a girl like me get an invitation to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society?

I have no clue. But I received a letter today extending an invitation for membership.

Like I told three friends of mine today, what would Mr. H. think? ? He was my former junior high/high school math teacher (and also a preacher) who used to berate me in front of everyone in class and tell me I wouldn't amount to anything simply because I used to get in a little trouble every now and then. Actually it wasn't really bad trouble, just stupid shit which I knew better not to do and for whatever reason did it anyway.

HA! I sure as hell fooled him.

  1. See, your students think the world of you, that's why you received that letter!
And I would certainly like to see Mr H and give him a piece of my mind. I never knew that. What a jack-ass.

I'll retell the story on your blog because it is relevant. My DH had a different teacher at this same school tell him he would never make it in a bigger school. What is up with people like this teaching? If you don't want to encourage and inspire students to be the best they can be and reach their full potential then you should get out of the class room.--ST

  3. Hi Mom, actually it was an invitation from my college, because of my GPA, that's why I was invited! Although I am still wondering because my overall GPA is like 3.23 and the requirement is at leasat a 3.5. Maybe they're not counting the one failing grade I have from 1993? That's when I was working full time and trying to go to school full-time and stopped going to those three classes. I made up two of the three classes and got an A in one and B in the other but the other one I need to redo is only offered mid-day and I can't do it. I think maybe the 3.5 is in the other courses...

Susan you know who I'm talking about, he used to preach to everyone who didn't live up to his standards, back then he intimidated me, so is it any WONDER I grew up hating math so much and fearing it??

I know exactly who you are talking about. Fortunately, I had Mr. Powers for math. I learned alot and loved his class.--ST
