I couldn't believe my eyes when I read awhile back that NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg convinced the city council to change the law on mayoral term limits so he could serve again. And I think one of the reasons there wasn't much opposition way back when rumors spread is because people really thought it was a joke---the people knew they had voted on the two-term limit, who is the mayor or city council to change that?
The reason there's a two term limit is because NYC voters voted it that way, not just once, but twice. And what do you think Bloomberg says is the reason for his actions? Yep, he dumped the blame on Wall Street and the economic crisis (surprise!)...
"I don't think the city needs another campaign. It's going to be tough enough to get us through this."
Wow! He acts as if the people of NYC can't go on without him, that they have never been through worse crises in their lives.
Bloomberg shouldn't get too excited over his whopping 59% approval rating, it just means 41% of the people think he's an asshole.
