I've been staying away from discussing politics lately because it tends to be a no-win. But I've got to come out and say something. I think Paul McCartney is an ass. Yes, you heard it. He's one person I never really thought I would despise but all it takes is one stupid ass comment to change my mind. There he was in the White House, accepting an award from the Library of Congress, serenading the small audience, and afterwards, he thanks everyone by saying,
"It's a fantastic honor, for the Gershwin family to give me this incredible award and for me to be awarded it by the Library of Congress and in fact after the last eight years it's great to have a President who knows what a library is."
Now, exactly what is that supposed to mean?
You can decide for yourself what it means.
What it was--was just really rude and tacky behavior. He took a cheap shot (and for no reason mind you because our former President was NOT illiterate) at a former President during a non-political ceremony at the White House, in front of the President, his family and especially his two small children. And even worse, the audience laughed. Anyone there who had any class would have bowed their head in disgrace. I thought Obama and his people were above that. I guess not.
Can you imagine? If this had been during the Bush administration and a politically conservative musician was honored in the White House. First, can you imagine this person making this kind of comment? And second, can you imagine Bush and his audience laughing?
No, I can't.
